Gazprom to Expand to German Market

Russian Gazprom is planning to expand its business to the German market, the head of the company Aleksey Miller claimed in the interview for the newspaper  Sueddeutsche Zeitung, published on Thursday.

“We would like not only to supply gas, but to start the energy business”, — said Miller. According to him, Gazprom wants to “act more actively in Germany”.

At the end of the previous year the subsidiary of Gazprom — Gazprom Marketing and Trading (GM&T) purchased the German company Envacom Service GmbH (Envacom), which supplied the electric power.

According to Gazprom CEO, the company robustly evaluates the doubts and hesitation, which may be caused by such policy of Russian exporter. “But we are not waiting for policy, we are instantly talking to our German partners about the possible improvements in the sphere of power supply”, — said Miller.

Previously Ministry of Economy and Technologies in Germany unambiguously implied control and examination of further expanding of “Gazprom” business in the FRG. Russian company supplies about the quarter of gas necessary for Europe and is the largest supplier for Germany.
