Combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) at the Tyumen combined heat and power plant-1 (CHPP-1) enabled cutting fuel consumption by half. Besides the innovative technology helps to bring down the environmental impact by 2,5 times.
The first unit of the CCGT was installed at the Tyumen combined heat and power plant-1 in 2003. The second one was launched not so long ago – at the end of last December.
Both units operate on combined cycle technology, the head of the PR and Media department of Fortum JSC (the Russian subdivision of the Finnish energy group) Elena Berezyuk says. It is based on fuel double firing — gas is fired first and then it is time for gas products. “Using fuel in such a way we lower the output of emission”, — she explained. This is one of the most environmentally friendly technologies in the thermal generation.
The share of the Tyumen combined heat and power plant-1 in the city heat supply system comprises 60%.
