The first stage of the would-be Belorussian nuclear power plant production facilities has been put in operation.
This was announced by the chief engineer of the state enterprise Directorate for Nuclear Power Plant Construction Anatoliy Bondar’. “This is the so-called lunching pad which also includes the management and residential building for the first builders and contractors who are to work at this base”, — he explained.
According to Bondar, the production base is created with the aim of enabling the works on the plant construction. Besides, the so-called ‘pioneer base’ is being finished at the Ostrovets site. This means acceptance of equipment and materials, enabling works on housing and infrastructure in the village of Ostrovets, the expert says. This consolidated production base is situated not far from the railway station Gudogaj.
As the first deputy of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Vitaliy Kulik says, a week ago the Energy Ministry approved of the investment feasibility study for the nuclear plant construction. A constituent of this document is the report about the assessment of the future power plant environmental impact.
The next stage after the feasibility study of investment into the nuclear power plant construction is architectural design development. After the design has been approved the construction site for the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets region will become operational.
