Next year the village of Alataevo in the Tomsk region will see the installation of solar panels. The electricity produced by these panels will be used for lighting the village. The solar panels which are planned to be mounted in Alataevo can charge not only from sunlight but also from the reflected moonlight.
Alataevo is the first population center in the Tomsk region where this energy-saving system will be tested for further use in the depth of the country. However solar panel installation in the village is only an item on the schedule so far. In reality at present the Research Institute of Semiconductor Devices together with the regional administration are engaged in the development of this project.
Vladimir Kovalenko, the chief engineer of the research institute, told the journalists that the solar panels which are planned to be installed in Alataevo are more functional that their conventional equivalents. These panels — provided that they are installed in due quantity — can produce electricity twenty four-seven. In case of cloudy weather the batteries can produce 80% of standard capacity and in the clear night – at least 20% if not 30%.
The total cost of the solar panel installation in Alataevo is not defined yet. The only precise data available is the cost per one house – it will need one system for 3 kWt, which costs 600 thousand rubles.
