The officers of the investigation department in cooperation with the Economic Crime Department in the South-West Administrative District took in custody the four persons suspected of at attempt to steal 900 thousands of Gazprom shares with the total cost of over 139 million rubles.
It should be reminded that on October 17 the staff of the own security service of one of the commercial enterprises, which is located in Novozheremushkinskaya St. and specializes in safe-keeping of gas industry shares, reported the attempt of fraud to the police. According to them, a person contacted them with a a suspicious request. Introducing himself as a client of the company he asked for am abstract from the register about his personal account. The citizen wanted to know how many shares he owned at the time and what their total cost was.
There were 900 thousand shares for the total amount of 139 million rubles in the personal account in question. However, the passport in the name of the beholder of shares, produced by the man made the staff of the institution suspicious. They asked the man to present some additional documents, thus winning time for reporting to the police about him.
When the suspect came to the organization on the next day, he was already waited for by the police. After taking the man into custody, the police found out that his photo was glued into someone else’s passport. After some time the police arrested three accomplices of this fraudster group.
At present the issue of starting a criminal case on the part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud) is being considered. Also the police is working on the identification of other possible accomplices in this crime.
