Gazprom and European Commission may come to an agreement on the Third Energy Package – this was announced by the mass media on Friday.
The Depuity CEO of Gazprom Alexandr Medvedev told the journalists that “The latest negotiations make us feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is quite bright. I hope that it will not be extinguished and we will be able to carry on with our projects”. Medvedev also shared his opinion on the special status of the industrial gas pipelines, which was obtained by their colleagues from Norway: “The fact that out gas pipelines are several thousand kilometers longer does not affect their status. If we follow the simplest logics – we could also count on such treatment”.
According to Alexandr Medvedev, the Russian gas corporation is not afraid of competition, however, as the deputy CEO of Gazprom says, “competing in the pipeline is stupid”. Medvedev believes that without a special status for the Russian pipelines the risks for energy safety are very high.
