Gazprom Plans to Use Newest Technological Solutions “In Memory Computing”

The central office of OAO Gazprom hosted a meeting of the deputy chairman of the managing board, the head of the finance and economy department Andrey Kruglov and the senior vice-president on the growing markets of IBM Jim Bramante.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation within the framework of the execution of Gazprom informatization strategy. The main point of discussion was the creation of systematic technological infrastructure of the data processing centers at Gazprom and other fields of further interaction.

A particular attention was paid to the prospects of using the newest solutions basing on “in memory computing” technology. Using this technology allows to considerably accelerate the processes of data processing and data analysis due to the fact that the calculations are carried out in the operating memory of computer systems. The parties emphasized that the necessary condition for efficient use of advanced technologies is service support and training for Gazprom engineers.

In the course of the meeting it was pointed out that Gazprom is carrying out systematic work on standardization of information systems for solving routine problems and unification of software used for this purpose the whole Group-wide.

Summing up the results of the meeting the parties confirmed their interest in continuing the dialogue on the main cooperation fields within the framework of the Informatization Strategy execution.

Gazprom Informatization Strategy was adopted by the resolution of the Managing Board of OAO Gazprom on January 172008. The strategy defines key directions in the development of information technologies at OAO Gazprom, which secure reaching strategic goals of the company.

Target system architecture, defined in the informatization strategy of OAO Gazprom is based on maximum standardization of systems for solving routine problems and unification of the used software. Software platform SAP AG was chosen as the basic software for its creation.
