The US State Secretary Hillary Clinton and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstyantyn Gryschenko effected the deal on the recovery of Ukrainian weapon-grade plutonium deposits.
Clinton classified this deal as mutually beneficial pointing out that both the people of Ukraine and global safety will benefit from that, the news agencies of the world reported on Tuesday.
The mere fact that the agreement in this field had been reached was announced by the presidents of the USA and Ukraine last year at the summit on nuclear safety. Within the framework of the agreement Ukraine is to transport plutonium which can potentially be used for creating nuclear weapons to Russia.
In return the USA are to build in Ukraine the nuclear research laboratory which would specialize in using low-grade uranium for medical research, treatment for cancer and other diseases, the statement says.
