The largest Russian independent gas producing company OAO NOVATEK intends to close the deal on purchasing OOO Gazprom Mezhregiongas Chelyabinsk by the end of November and thus become the only gas supplier in the Chelyabinsk region, the Vice-Governor Sergei Komykov declared on Wednesday at the meeting with the heads of municipalities.
The press-service of Gazprom Mezhregiongas Chelyabinsk specifies that they expect to close the deal by the end of this week.
In June Komyakov already publicized the information that in 2012 NOVATEK intends to increase the volumes of gas sales in the Chelyabinsk region twice – from 30% to 60%. He pointed out that the region is fully content with their cooperation with NOVATEK because the company “is carrying out the flexible sales policy and is granting a convenient discount system”.
According to the information from the press-service of the head of the region, at the end of July NOVATEK signed a contract of gas delivery valid till 2015 with the major electrical and heat energy supplier in the region – the Fortum company (the subsidiary of the Finnish company Fortum). The amount of the contract comprised about 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year which is about 80% of Fortum’s gas consumption in the region. On signing the agreement with NOVATEK the Governor Mikhail Yurievich said that in the future NOVATEK’s share in the gas supply of the region is to reach 90%.
