The nuclear power plant in Bushehr can be set into operation in a little more than a month. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Ryabkov, according to Interfax.
‘The project has been completed, everything’s up and running, now it is the matter of process engineers,’ he said to the journalists. Ryabkov specified that the plant start-up is likely to take place early in August, but he did not give the exact date.
Earlier it was reported that the terms of the start-up of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran depend on merely technical matters.
In August 24 1993 the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Iran signed a cooperation agreement in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy, and on the following day the agreement on a nuclear power plant construction in Iran was made. In January 1995 the parties signed the contact on finishing the construction of block # 1 of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr, and in 1998 the appendix #1 to this contract was added, according to which the management of the construction completion was given over to the company Atomstroyexport. In fact the Russian party started the countdown of the nuclear power plant “Bushehr” construction in 1998.
In accordance with the signed contract, the Russian party using its own technology and equipment, on the basis of its own investigation and analysis results, as well as of reasonable estimate of technical possibilities, knowledge and experience bound itself to reconstruct and finish “key ready” the construction of the first block of installed electric power 1000 MW with the reactor system В-446.
