Russian oil companies will invest at least 569 billion rubles till 2015 to increase oil conversion ratio, the head of Energy Ministry Sergei Shmatko said on Friday.
“The modernization program is quite considerable. The total cost of the program is 569 billion rubles on a conservative estimate,” – he said at the meeting dedicated to the questions of oil refining industry development.
The minister confirmed that the plans of branch modernization presuppose that the task of refining 225 million tons of oil a year with light oil products output of 172,1 million tons will have been solved by that time. According to Shmatko, to be able to fulfill this task the oil companies will have to set in operation 91 modern reworking plants, with isomerization capacity increasing by half.
The minister also pointed out that after reaching these objectives, the industry may face both investment difficulties and human resources problems – about 10 thousand developers will have to work hard to support the program realization.
