The estimated cost of the second exploration well in the first gas field discovered during Azerbaijan’s independence years – the gas field Umid in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea – makes up 81.3 million American dollars, such information was published at the official website of the State oil company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on Tuesday.
The drilling of 6.5 thousand meters deep well is being carried out by the company itself, so far 3.1 thousand meters have been drilled.
The volume of hydrocarbons’ deposit at the Umid is estimated at over 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate.
The gas field is situated at a distance of 40 km off the seashore, 75 km off Baku.
Earlier the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullaev did not exclude the possibility of the estimated deposits of the gas field going up after the second exploration well drilling. The exploration on this structure is executed by means of the state oil company’s own resources without involving any foreign investors or companies.
