«This is the bottom line of energy saving policy — or rather, energy efficiency,» – the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on August 29, 2012.
The head of the government said that since the beginning of the year Ukraine has imported nearly 12 billion cubic meters of gas less. This is a practical result of the policy of energy independence.
Simultaneously, the production of domestic coal and gas was increased. Also, for the autumn-winter period six powerful thermal generating units were transferred from gas to coal. Besides, for today a feasibility study on the transfer of five more thermal power plants to hydrocarbon fuel has been developed.
«Advanced technologies of using coal in thermal power industry and manufacturing industry open up completely new prospects for the both», — said the head of the Ukrainian government.
