In 2012 Ukraine is planning to increase its own gas production by 5% — to reach 21 billion cubic meters, the Minister of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine Yuriy Boiko.
“We are going to improve out legislation, raise or technical level and invite the leading companies…which means implementing the set of actions which will enable raising our domestic gas production by 1 billion cubic meters this year”, — Boiko said.
Ukraine increased its gas production by 0.4% — to 20 billion cubic meters in 2011.
Earlier the Ukrainian party declared its intention to cut the purchase of Russian natural gas in 2012 from 52 billion cubic meters which are stated in the contract to 27 billion cubic meters.
