Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) and the Russian Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement, this was declared by the official representative of the agency Vladimir Dmitriev.
“We believe that this is a most important event which unites the efforts of academic and applied science in the process of carrying out the state forestry policy. The cooperation will enable taking new scientifically-grounded decisions aimed at preservation and augmenting the forest resources of our country”, — Mr Dmitriev said.
According to him the new scientific approaches are necessary for monitoring the state of forests and the technologies of growing planting material. Besides, the agency is going to create – together with the RAN – experimental scientific testing areas where the new scientific developments are to be implemented.
“It is still to be decided which specific aims our efforts are to be focused on, and these decisions are to be used as a basis for the scientific chapter of the forestry program of Rosleskhoz”, — the representative of the agency said.
