A high alert regime was introduced in the power utilities of Sochi in order to provide the Olympic objects with electricity and to ensure timely response to emergency situations. The emergency response center, which is personally headed by Oleg Budargin, the head of FGC UES (Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System) is controlling the work of a grid control center, specially created in Sochi.
The press-service of the Sochi enterprise of the Main power grids of the South told the journalists that the new operational regime has been on starting from December, 1 2012. There are three directions, which have been singled out in the new structure of power facilities: the department on the interaction with clients, the security department, the department of power facilities operations.
So far the whole Sochi power facilities area has been divided into the four responsibility zones, including the Imereti lowland and mountain cluster. According to the construction engineers, the works on the construction of power facilities are to be completed by December 25 2012. “We will be able to test the new infrastructure to the full extent already this winter”, — Oleg Budargin pointed out.
At present the state of cable and overhead power transmission lines 10,110 and 220 kV is being monitored 24/7. There is an effective information exchange between the grid organizations, which have been engaged into the operation of power grid facilities of the Sochi region. Power companies of the Krasnodar Territory have sent additional staff to help Sochi power engineers – two hundred sixty nine people, which will work in shifts. The same Krasnodar power engineers will carry out continuous watch during the Winter Olympics and Special Olympic Games in 2014.
