The Republic of Moldova put up with the fact that the price for Ukrainian electrical energy would rise by 13.2% of the current price.
On April 2 the management of GasNatural Fenosa put their signatures on the contract with the Kuchirganskaya generation plant, having agreed on the tariff of 6.9 cents for one KWh. Earlier the price of electricity comprised 6.1 cents and the Ukrainian party insisted on setting the price of 7.3 cents. Ukraine delivers to Moldova about 25% of its electricity demand.
Vladimir Filat, the prime-minister of Moldova, declared earlier that the authorities of the country would not agree with the increased tariffs and sent the corresponding recommendations to the negotiating group. The situation was driven out of the deadlock only when the power delivery from Kuchurgany to Moldova was stopped on April 1.
It should be mentioned that the contract between Moldova and the Ukrainian company Power Trade ceased on April 1. However, the republic continued to use Ukrainian electrical energy without a contract.
The Russian company Inter RAO UES also ceased its electricity deliveries from the Moldovskaya State District Power Plant located in Transnistria to Moldova on April 2. The reason for the delivery failure is the absence of a new contract with Inter RAO. And the validity of the previous contract expired a day before.
The representatives of Inter RAO are sure that the price of electricity is to be increased by 13.2% (to 69 American dollars) for 1 MWh of electrical energy. The republic agrees with the increase in electricity price but so far the contract has not been registered with the government authorities of Moldova.
