A river-sea class vessel with large-size heavy equipment for the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydro power plant arrived in Krasnoyarsk. At present it is being unloaded in the river port of Peschanka.
According to the press-service of RusHydro, the vessel which arrived at Peschanks is carrying three sets of large-size equipment each of which consists of a impulse hydro turbine wheel (weight – 21 tons, diameter – 6.1 m) and 13-ton rotor frame for the auxiliary generator with the diameter of 6.09 m. The only possible way of delivering such cargo is by water.
In Kransoyarsk the equipment is to be transshipped to a river barge which after overcoming the canal-lift of the Krasnoyarskaya hydro power plant will deliver the cargo to the moorage (thanshipment knot) in the tail-water of the Maynskaya hydro power plant (situated downstream on the Yenisey river, 21.5 km off the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydro power plant). There a special auto transport is to deliver units of a hydroelectric generating sets to the erection site of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydro power plant
New hydroelectric generating sets are to be installed in the turbine hall of the plant which is now being restored after the serious accident in August 2009. There are plans to install a total number of 10 new generating sets. The first launch is scheduled for December 2011, after that power engineers are planning to put in operation three generating sets a year with the aim of completing the station’s fitting out in 2014.
