Belarus has asked the Russian partners to increase the oil delivery volumes to Minsk by 8.5% in 2012 – from today’s 12.2 million tons to 23 million. This was declared by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Yuriy Sentyurin. Mr Sentyurin pointed out that the Russian Minenergo leaves open the possibility of increasing the volumes of oil delivery. “Everything is possible, everything has become easier for us, because we have the Common Free Market Zone, the Customs Union, and this has simplified all the procedures considerably”, — the deputy minister said.
At the beginning of January 2011 Russia interrupted oil deliveries to Belarus due to the absence of contracts between the Belorussian and the Russian oilmen. According to unofficial sources of information the deliveries were stopped because the parties could not agree on the price of oil deliveries. At the end of January the contracts were signed and the oil deliveries were resumed.
