Evening of August 7 saw the thunderhead over the territory of the Novgorod region, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and heavy rainfall. In some areas of the region power supply to consumers of the branch of IDGC of North-West «Novgorodenergo was interrupted.»
Already within an hour the engineers were able to connect more than 40 population centers to the electricity supply. As of 23:00 Moscow time on August 7 in the area of responsibility of production units of «Novgorodenergo» 70 overhead power lines 110-35-10 kV arecompletely off, 13 additional overhead lines are partially disabled. The power supply of 750 transformer points was interrupted, 493 population centers, home to 15,173 people, were de-energized.
The emergency operations center started its work at the premises of «Novgorodenergo» . According to the chief engineer of the branch of the IDGC of North-West Anatoly Karpov 161 specialists of operational and maintenance personnel in 44 teams with 44 units of special equipment are involved in the recovery efforts.
