The management of the power grids of the North-West does not guarantee that the winter in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region will pass without any accidents.
According to the head of the Leningrad enterprise MES North-West Taras Dzyuba it is impossible to predict emergency situation although for their part MES are 100% ready for the cold season.
‘We hope that the reconstruction of the power facilities will help avoid accidents but accidents cannot be forecasted and may depend not only on us but also on external factors’, — Dzyuba emphasized.
In 2011 staggering sums were spent on the repairs of the Vostochnaya substation, which was to blame for the large-scale blackout of 2010. The substation is a key node of power supply for the whole of St.Petersburg and its vicinities.
‘However the ordinary consumer is getting electricity via transit through the distribution grids 220 kV, and the management of MES cannot be responsible for the work of Lenenergo’. – Dzyuba declared.
