Under the transformer tank in the Moscow power substation Lefortovo the specialists of the Moscow United Power Grid Company (MUPGC) subdivision Central Power Grids are going to perform a unique process operation of soil stabilization. During the 8 years of flawless service of the Lefortovo substation 110/10 kW (the substation has been in operation since 1983) its floor has been partially deformed in the transformer room, the coatings cracked, the basement became warped and sagged. In the expert opinion the soil under the transformer lost the necessary hardness. It has been decided to use the technology of cement grouting.
The repair works of this kind in the power facilities of the Central Power Grids will be executed for the first time. According the deputy head of the Central Power Grids and the chief of staff Nikolay Vaslyaev, the process of soil stabilization under the basement of the Lefortovo substation will proceed as follows. At first they do the high pressure pumping of the Microdur solution (which granules are six times as small as cement ones) under the basement plate directly into the soil. Particles of the solution can penetrate into the loose soil deeper and further, gat stingy and then – harden. After that a hard substance is formed under the basement which strength factors are no less than those of concrete.
The experts on underground and tunnel construction speak very highly of the Microdur solution, its ability to hold colossal load is the best recommendation in this case. Other important characteristics are its high factors of sanitary and environmental safety that help avoid harming the environment which sometimes happens during repair works. At present Lefortovo is preparing for the start of construction works. The transformer assembly had been switched off and taken out of the room. The basement stabilization works completion is scheduled for the end of September. The management of the Central Power Grids guarantees uninterrupted power distribution to the public during the repairs.
