Over 150 thousand people were left without electricity in the piedmont and mountainous areas of the Chechnya as a result of the accident at the thermal power plant, the official representative of the regional office of the Emergencies Ministry Timur Taisumov declares.
“The electricity cut occurred at 15.35 Moscow time as a result of the accident at the Argunskaya thermal power plant. The Shalinskiy district and the mountainous Shatoyskiy and Vedenskiy districts as well as separate population centers of the Groznenskiy and Itum-Klinskiy districts were cut off electricity. More than 150 thousand people altogether”, — Taisumov said.
According to him, the socially important objects were connected to the back-up power sources. At present the maintenance brigade is taking the necessary measures to mitigate the accident.
